Introduction Hope Technology Unveils the EVO Brake. At Hope Technology, we’re renowned for making components that last. After fouryears. Our test-winning brake, the Tech 4, was due for an update-not a reinvention, but a refinement.Introducing the EVO: A step up in braking performance, with updates to both themaster cylinder and calipers, EVO delivers improved control, power, andserviceability across cross-country, trail, and gravity disciplines. You’ll noticefamiliar names from our existing lineup-a deliberate move to make choosing theright brake easier than ever. The Three Options:EVO GR4 – 4 Piston Gravity BrakeMaximum power, zero compromise. Engineered for gravity and E bike use, the onepiece GR4 caliper features a stiffer one-piece body, larger pistons (6% more power vsTech 4 V4), and a slimmer profile for better frame compatibility. They aredeliberately not compatible for vented rotors, to maximize caliper stiffness andperformance.EVO TR4 – 4 Piston Trail BrakeTrail-proven power with balanced modulation. The one-piece TR4 caliper withlarger pistons and shared GR4 pads delivers a 6.5% increase in braking ratio over theprevious E4 system-ideal for trail and all-mountain use.EVO X2 – 2 Piston XC BrakeLightweight, smooth, and precise. The EVO X2 pairs the new EVO master cylinderwith the X2 caliper for riders who prioritise lever feel and control over sheer power-ideal for cross-country and lighter duty use.Engineered for the real world. The Master cylinder features a new cam mechanism to reduce free stroke whilemaintaining the feel and modulation, a key feature of the much-loved Tech 4. The piston assembly-features a secondary guide bush and sliding guide-ensures ultrasmooth operation throughout the full lever stroke. The caliper bodies have been refined for greater stiffness, improved hub/framecompatibility, and streamlined profiles. Bore cap designs are optimized to reducewidth and improve fit across modern frame geometries.Key updates:– 3 Lever blade options: Standard, Control & Power. (Control and Power areafter market purchases. More information on the Lever blades here (link)– Ergonomics: Redesigned lever with increased hook and new dimple texturefor maximum grip and control in all conditions.– Improved Modulation: New cam design and piston improvements deliverfirmer bite point and improved feel throughout the braking zone.– Smooth & Predictable Lever Feel: Upgraded internal piston mechanics androller-bearing pivots ensure consistent performance and feel.– Simplified Bleeding & Maintenance: A new master cylinder bleed port allowsclean, tool-efficient bleeding without lid removal.– Improved Pad Wear Consistency: Caliper tweaks to improve brake feel acrossthe entire pad lifespan.
